I'm Jess - a videographer based between Walylup/Fremantle and the South West of WA.
I have worked with video for more than two decades now, with almost 10 years of professional videography experience. My style mixes 4K video with old-school camcorder footage to create work that is both modern and nostalgic. (Personally) few things beat the familiar whimsy of watching 'home-videos' reminiscent of those from our childhood. Through my work I try to capture feelings of authenticity, sentimentality and fun.

I am excited to collaborate with others in my community to bring their video ideas to life—whether that be a couple wanting to capture the magic of their wedding day, a local musician or band sharing their art, or a small business looking to tell their story and authentically connect with their audience.

Ethos.

Equity and accessibility. This is very important to me. No matter your budget, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am confident we can find a way to collaborate. If you are nervous or uncomfortable on front of a camera, I very much relate to this, and I will do my very best to make you feel at ease and like you can be your complete self. Any adjustments or accommodations I can provide to make things more accessible for you or others, I am more than happy to support.

Sustainability. I prioritise purchasing as much of my equipment as possible refurbished or second-hand, without compromising on quality. E-waste is among the most rapidly increasing types of solid waste worldwide (WHO 2024) and I endeavour to do my part to not over-consume.

Background.

I grew up in the south west and began my vocation into filmmaking at the tender age of 8 when I first gained access to my parent's VHS camcorder. With my three younger sisters by my side as unpaid actors and crew, making videos soon became my passion (*ahem* obsession). I began learning how to navigate different editing software from the age of 11 (shout out to Windows Movie Maker) and spent my teen years involved in youth film festivals and video competitions, which soon won me my own collection of cameras (which I still own and use to this day). These projects eventually landed me a scholarship to study at Murdoch University in 2012 where I majored in Screen Production and Journalism. Upon graduating, I landed my first professional role as a Creative Digital Video Producer at Seven West Media and after a year I moved overseas to pursue freelance videography in Spain, Portugal and the UK.

Unfortunately, 2020 brought some health challenges and creative burn out,  which saw me step away from videography for the next few years. Late 2024, after a much needed rest, I started Glas Film.

Glas is the Irish word for green, specifically the shades found in nature. As someone with a deep love and reverence for the natural world, my work often pays homage to its beauty, calm and colours.  After two decades of video, I am excited to keep expanding my creative tool belt and developing my style and brand of storytelling.
